Junko Tsuboyama Kikumoto

1991
- Studied at Kyushu University (Fukuoka, Japan) to earn a B.S. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry
- Graduation Thesis: "Successfully synthesized novel functional organic compounds containing 3,3-meta cyclophane"

1991~1992
- Joined Hitachi, Ltd as researcher and analyzed at an atom-level the process development of hard disks for Super-computers at the dawn of a "storage technology" revolution transiting from magnetic tapes to hard disc drives (HDD).

1994~1999
- Pivoted from researcher to a CPA
- At KPMG, took charge of statutory audits of Japanese high-tech and pharmaceutical companies as well as in-house audits of multinationals.
- Also supported startups for IPO

1999~2000
- Further pivot from accountant to consultant
- At Boston Consulting Group, in the early days of the Internet, involved in a number of new business development, marketing, and overseas expansion projects in telecommunications, music entertainment, and pharmaceutical industries.

2000~2002
- 3rd pivot and finally became an entrepreneur!
- Co-founded the consulting/incubation company Dream Incubator Inc with 5 colleagues from BCG.
- Went public on Tokyo Stock Exchange in a record 2 years since foundation.

2002~2007
- From proceeds of the Dream Incubator IPO, co-founded Junko's second start-up (Re-plus Inc).
- The first "Real Estate Tech" business modernizing the rental housing market in Japan and successfully went to IPO in its third year and was subsequently acquired.
- Also launched a Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) backed by a portfolio in Japan and China. The REIT went separately listed on TSE.
- Formed an insurance subsidiary and successfully exited through an M&A.

2007~
- Temporarily retired from business to get married and concentrate on raising two children.

2010~
- Came back to business on a small scale, supporting and investing in younger friends and colleagues starting up businesses, while continuing to raise two children!!

2019
- SJR GK established as a Family Office to centrally and professionally manage Junko's globally diversified investments from Private Equity to Real Estate.
- Now investing intellectual and financial capital in full scale with focus on areas and actors of innovation, as defined by SJR, around the globe.
